Governors for Schools is pleased to announce that the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) will be the official sponsors of our 2022 digital conference. The Governors for Schools Conference 2022 is taking place virtually on Tuesday, 27th and Wednesday, 28th of September, and will include a diverse range of panel sessions on topics affecting the governance landscape. The conference is free, open to all, and accredited by the CPD Certification Service, offering valuable guidance to improve practice on governing boards across the country.

The IET represents one of the world’s largest engineering institutions, with more than 155,000 members in 148 countries. The organisation supports innovation by offering career development opportunities, facilitating accredited courses, publishing cutting-edge research, supporting employers, and much more. We’re delighted to partner with an organisation committed to helping people pursue rewarding careers. As we explored in our recent ‘All pupils, every ambition’ campaign, governors play a vital role in careers education, helping to assess and challenge schools’ employment-focused provisions.

The Governors for Schools Conference 2022 represents a valuable resource for people involved in governance, and the IET’s sponsorship will ensure our charity is able to offer this event to delegates free of charge. The two-day conference will offer insights from a range of experts, covering pressing topics such as succession planning, Pupil Premium, the Welsh curriculum, improving school attendance rates, and much more. As well as helping existing governors develop their skills, the conference will provide opportunities for corporate social responsibility managers, school leaders, and others to learn about our valuable services.

Hannah Stolton, CEO of Governors for Schools, explains:

I’m delighted that the Institution of Engineering and Technology is the confirmed sponsor for the Governors for Schools Conference 2022. As an independent charity that receives no government funding, we depend on the generosity of supporters such as the IET to fund our mission.

This partnership will support our commitment to delivering high-quality governance resources and training by covering costs associated with our free, CPD-accredited conference. With over 2,800 session registrations to date, we’re looking forward to an exciting two days of dynamic presentations and discussions, and I’m happy to have IET by our side.
