Pathway to Governance

Our Pathway to Governance programme exists to make the process of becoming a school governor easy. Delivered by experts within the educational governance space, the programme allows learners to develop their skills and knowledge to operate effectively from day one in the role.

This programme can both be taken at the pace of the learner, to fit around personal and professional commitments – mock trust board meeting then allow for putting what has been learnt into practice.

Pathway to Trusteeship

The Pathway to Trusteeship programme offers comprehensive training for aspiring academy trustees, with a focus on robust governance, strategic planning, and leadership. It includes flexible online learning and live mock board meetings, led by experts.

Participants then receive dedicated application and placement support to become an academy trustee. This programme is ideal for experienced professionals who want to develop their skills and give back to the education sector.

STEM governor programme

Since 2022, we have been working with global engineering firm, AtkinsRéalis, to develop a STEM governor programme. The programme provides schools with board members who have a laser-focus on STEM delivery and the opportunities it provides to place the next generation into meaningful STEM careers.

Since its inception, the programme has grown with increasing support from partners working within STEM sectors. We now want to support more employers to deliver a STEM governor programme.

Cyber governor programme

Governors for Schools provides a Cyber Governor Programme to employers interested in having a positive impact in education. By connecting your people with school governance roles, we enable them to share their cyber skills, act as a champion for the sector, and deepen their expertise.

The Cyber Governor role has the focus of providing strategic leadership to a school or trust on digital compliance as well as policies and procedures for their IT systems and data security.
