On Wednesday, 17th May 2023, Governors for Schools attended the Schools and Academies Show at Excel, London. Hannah Stolton, Governors for Schools CEO shares her experience of the action-packed day.
I was delighted to speak at the Schools and Academies Show last month. As one of the UK’s leading education policy events, the show represents a unique opportunity to meet like-minded industry experts and discover new strategies for driving pupil success.
During my panel session, I was fortunate enough to discuss the changing education landscape with Gill Cowley, Chair of Governors and winner of Governor of the Year at the National Schools Awards 2022. We explored how encouraging people with a range of skills and backgrounds onto a board can enhance its efficacy and improve educational standards. Ensuring boards have a diversity of perspectives is a core part of our mission, so I was thrilled to highlight the benefits of recruiting people from different sectors and communities.
Governors for Schools manned a stand at the event, allowing us to connect with professionals keen to discover more about the personal and professional benefits of school governance and encourage them to volunteer. As part of our stand, we showcased our recently launched Trustee Recruitment Service and shared information about how we deliver bespoke support to help schools find high-quality trustees. We also took the opportunity to demonstrate our new online dashboard, which has been designed to make the lives of hardworking governance professionals and clerks a little easier.
Venturing beyond the Governors for Schools stand, I was inspired by the wide variety of products and services on display, many of which school leaders can use in their classrooms to enhance learning and better support students.
Attending the Schools Academies Show was an exceptional experience and, as a CEO, I would highly recommend that fellow leaders in the sector take advantage of future shows to enhance their leadership capabilities, meet with peers and industry professionals, and stay on top of the latest educational developments.
