Governors for Schools is delighted to announce that the Institute of Physics’ (IOP)Limit Less campaign will officially sponsor the Governors for Schools Conference 2023.
The digital conference will take place online during National Inclusion Week 2023 and will run across Tuesday, 26th September and Wednesday, 27th September. The conference is free, and open to all, featuring a diverse range of panel sessions on topics affecting the governance landscape.
The IOP is the UK and Ireland’s professional body and learned society for physics. Limit Less is a campaign to support young people to change the world and fulfil their potential by doing physics. The campaign influences those around young people to ensure that limiting stereotypes about what physics is, or what is the best path for certain groups of young people, are challenged. Governors for Schools is delighted to be working with IOP, as our shared aims and inclusive values will help us deliver high-quality, accessible materials for the education sector.
The Governors for Schools Conference 2023 represents a valuable resource for people involved in governance, and the IOP’s generous sponsorship will allow us to offer free access to the event for all delegates. The two-day conference will offer insights from a range of experts, covering pressing topics such as good governance in 2023, whole-school approaches to inclusion, STEM education, effective challenge as a governor, and much more. The conference also aims to help existing governors develop their skills, and will provide opportunities for corporate social responsibility managers, school leaders, and others to learn about our valuable services.
Hannah Stolton, CEO of Governors for Schools, explains:
I’m delighted that the Institute of Physics’ Limit Less campaign is the confirmed sponsor for the Governors for Schools Conference 2023. As an independent charity that receives no government funding, we depend on the generosity of supporters such as the IOP to fund our mission.
This partnership will support our commitment to delivering high-quality governance resources and training by covering costs associated with our free, CPD-accredited conference. With the IOP by our side, we’re looking forward to an exciting two days of dynamic presentations and discussions.
Rachel Youngman, Deputy Chief Executive of Institute of Physics:
Removing barriers to young people’s progression is physics is what the Limit Less campaign is all about, and we know how critical taking a whole school approach to inclusion and equity is. School governors play a vital role in championing this agenda and collaboratively holding schools to account for their plans and impact.
“We want to see boards have a nominated individual responsible for whole school equity, and we need that message to reach as many governors as possible. That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Governors for Schools for their conference this year, kicking off a year activity focused on championing inclusion in schools.
