Northern Powergrid, the company that powers everyday life for 8 million people across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, has partnered with Governors for Schools to help increase the number of skilled school governors across the region and improve education for children.
As part of the partnership the electricity distributor is encouraging its employees to support the local communities they already help power by volunteering their time and skills on school boards. The education charity will support the volunteers by providing training and guidance so they can make a positive impact as a governor right from the start.
Siobhan Barton, Northern Powergrid’s head of stakeholder relations, said: “We have an important role to play powering everyday life for people across our region, but we know that being a force for good goes beyond our network. It means making a positive contribution to the communities that we work and live in. Our partnership with Governors for schools will allow Team Powergrid to take the expertise they already have and learn new skills that will help school children across the region achieve their full potential.”
