Governors for Schools assembled a panel of educationalists and governance specialists to discuss how school governing boards can secure greater racial representation and diversity.

In a recent survey carried out by the National Governance Association, 93% of school governors who responded identified as white, compared to 74% of pupils in England.

Boards that are more representative better reflect the schools they serve and are strengthened by input from a wider range of voices and experiences.

We will hear from our panelists about the practical steps boards can take to recruit and retain governors from Black, Asian and other under-represented communities. This will be followed by a Q+A session.
