While we remain committed to continuing to offer our free Governor Recruitment Service, we also now offer a paid for and targeted headhunting service for schools who need a more proactive approach to governor recruitment.
The Enhanced Recruitment Service is ideal for boards that have hard-to-fill, multiple, or urgent vacancies, as well as those in need of specific skill sets.
We’ll engage with a largely untapped pool of talent in your local community by headhunting candidates across a range of recruitment platforms.

How does the Enhanced Recruitment Service work?
- Schools are offered an optional discovery call. During this call, our recruitment team will gain insight into the make-up of the school’s board. That way, we can understand what they are looking for in their next school governor.
- We’ll then use this information to create a role brief to identify potential volunteers across a range of recruitment platforms.Â
- We’ll give all volunteers who are recruited through this service free access to our online training ‘Become an Effective New Governor.’Â
We don’t charge schools until the volunteer we find takes up their post. If we aren’t successful in finding a school a school governor, they don’t pay anything.Â

- Boards with long-standing vacancies. If you’re struggling to find volunteers to become school governors, this service can help.Â
- Boards that need future-proofing. If looking ahead, you want to avoid a skills gap on your board then our Enhanced Recruitment Service can target those volunteers in your local area who have the skills you need.Â
- Boards in need of diversity. Don’t forget last year 68% of school governors placed by Governors for Schools were under 45 and 31% were from an ethnic minority group.Â
- Boards that need a dedicated and professional service to remove any politics and bias. As an organisation, we don’t discriminate based off any protected characteristic outlined in the Equality Act 2010. As a neutral party, we also avoid bias that may occur when recruiting locally.Â
