This academic year, we launched our Chair Recruitment Service and Enhanced Recruitment Service, to provide bespoke support to schools in need of highly skilled school governors. At this time, we also introduced a bursary offer to encourage organisations and place-based funders to provide these services free of charge to schools and academy trusts facing significant challenges.
Today we’re thrilled to announce that Amazon is the first organisation to work with us in this endeavour. Their generous £20,000 donation will enable Governors for Schools to fill 40 critical school governance roles in schools located within communities near Amazon sites. This ensures these educational institutions receive the governance support they urgently require.
Sponsorship and bursary opportunities with Governors for Schools
As a charity in the education sector, we require the generous support of organisations like Amazon to continue our work as effectively as possible. That’s why we’re also sharing more information about our sponsorship and bursary opportunities. This page outlines the different ways organisations can support us financially.
This newly launched scheme firmly supports our commitment to helping schools build exceptional boards, and will focus on the schools and academies most in need of our support. We are excited to deliver this work alongside Amazon and look forward to seeing the impact it will have. The funding allows us to further evolve the work we do, which has seen 1oo of their employees apply to take on school governance roles since April 2023.
Making a difference in education
In light of this exciting development, Governors for Schools CEO, Hannah Stolton stated:
We are delighted to have teamed up with Amazon on this initiative, and it will truly help us impact education in multiple communities across the country. For the charity to be able to build its impact further, we need the financial support of more organisations to help us deliver our valuable work to schools across England and Wales.
