As the autumn term draws to a close, we’re excited to be wrapping up a successful year full of campaigns, conferences, and new governor and trustee appointments. We’re grateful for everyone who has connected with us in 2022, whether as a volunteer, school, trust, or partner organisation. Your commitment to education is invaluable, and we look forward to collaborating with you again in the new year.

With only a handful of days left until we pause for the festive period, we’d like to celebrate by sharing some of our highlights from the past 12 months. Since the beginning of January, we’ve placed an amazing 2,001 volunteers on school boards across England and Wales. Many thanks to all who have given their time to supporting schools and helping young people thrive.

We’ve also enjoyed helping our volunteers learn and grow throughout 2022. As well as releasing a diverse range of resources as part of our ‘All Pupils, Every Ambition‘ and ‘Boards Against Bullying‘ campaigns, we hosted our highly popular Governors for Schools Conference. Attracting over 3,600 live views across the country, this CPD-accredited event received a fantastic recommendation of rate of 98%. What’s more, over 4,850 people accessed our core webinar series in 2022, either as live attendees or by watching recordings. Remember – you can catch up with all previous webinars on our website.

We’re also delighted to provide an update on the progress of our 125K challenge, in which we aim to place enough new governors from our corporate partners to impact the education of at least 125,000 children. Since September, we have successfully appointed 100 governors as part of the initiative – a fantastic milestone on which we continue to build.

If you’re already looking ahead to the new year, don’t forget to sign up for our Better Governor webinars, including ‘Is your governance ready for Ofsted? in January and Monitoring the impact of Pupil Premium in March. These webinars are always highly informative, engaging, and well-attended, so don’t forget to pop them in your diary and reserve a spot. We’ll also be sending out our regular termly newsletter in January, containing everything you need to know about upcoming campaigns, initiatives, and relevant partner updates. Keep an eye on your inbox!

We wish you safe travels and memorable moments with loved ones this festive season. Our team will be taking a well-deserved break from Saturday, 24th December until Tuesday, 3rd January, so please be aware our social media channels and email activity will look a little quieter during this period. From the whole team at Governors for Schools – enjoy the holidays and have a happy New Year!
